*ADDITIONAL COSTS: Students will also be expected to purchase a 1-month subscription of Adobe
Premiere Pro (aprox. $32) in order to complete the homework for the EDITING section. Additionally,
they may want to purchase misc. other supplies in order to enhance their homework assignments. All
students will need access to a smartphone.
Class Description:
This class will introduce students to the basics of filmmaking. Over the course of the semester, they will
learn about each of the major positions on a film set from screenwriter to editor. They’ll also get the
chance to practice all of these skills themselves through in-class exercises and homework assignments.
Along with giving students a fun and creative outlet, this class will also introduce them to a variety of
skills that are increasingly important in today’s media-driven society, such as the fundamentals of
photography, effective storytelling, professional editing software, and more.
