6:1 – Thursday – Physical Science: Physics/Chemistry

Explore the inner workings of science with hands-on activities! Students will conduct Crime Scene investigations, build wave simulators, play board games and more! We will be studying matter, the periodic table, elements, mixtures, compounds, chemical reactions, light and electromagnetic spectrum, energy, heat, motion, Newton’s laws and momentum. There will be weekly home reading and written assignments. We will have a midterm quiz and semester-end test. Class is aligned with NEXT GEN SCIENCE Standards for 6th-8th grade students.

Texts: Covered by Every Charter, One for each semester to cover Physics and Chemistry, the two components of Physical Science.

I recommend trying to find these books used over the summer or check them out from your charter used book libraries, if they have one. WE ONLY NEED THE STUDENT TEXT, not the lab book or the teacher edition.

We are using the 3rd Edition; it will say 3rd Edition on the front cover (otherwise it is an older edition).
