World History
Students will gain an overarching understanding of world history, examining the major events of history; important figures; social, economic, religious, and political movements; and other key facts that help us gain a perspective on the world we are in now. Students will have opportunities to work on projects, interact with cultural artifacts and engage in meaningful discussions as they learn history. Rather than just focusing or memorizing facts, emphasis will be placed on thinking critically about history and understanding humanity in different eras and locations than those with which they may already be familiar. Opportunities will be provided for students to investigate further and dive deeper. They will fulfill the expected criteria of a general high school world history course, but the goal is that they will also develop an interest in different times and places and through studying the past, and gain a richer understanding of the present.
